Guest Feature - Linda Sammaritan

Teenaged Laurie's sister sacrificed her life as a nurse in the Vietnam War. In the protest-ridden States, keeping that loss invisible feels safest to Laurie. But the shaky start of an unlikely friendship with the girl at school who dresses like a hippie helps Laurie find the courage to become un-invisible.

Linda Sammaritan writes realistic fiction, mostly for kids ages ten to fourteen. She has published a middle-grade trilogy, World Without Sound, based on her own experiences growing up with a deaf sister in the Vietnam War era.
